Concept
Hunger, the need for nourishment in order to live or survive. In our society of abundance, even in times of crisis we rarely suffer from hunger, as in the lack of food in order to nourish ourselves, so a person will always find a way to have their necessary daily calorie intake. The quality of products and their preparation have become increasingly important in recent years and are becoming exclusive to the few “elite” people, be it because of their cost or because of the lack of knowledge about them. Today we are used to getting rid of our hunger, but rarely do we manage to satisfy our gourmandise ,this remains an impenetrable if not rare terrain. People often think that only the most sophisticated of pallets that have been fine tuned to selected tastes can appreciate some foods cooked with innovative and unusual preparation techniques.
The spoon is the symbol of weaning and the instrument that is used to spoon feed an adult or a child, it evokes a maternal expression of attentiveness towards those who need attention or nourishment. It is associated with an identity that is full and satisfied. Unconsciously, the fork (pitchfork/trident) is associated with a pointed weapon, used in ancient times to hunt prey that would then feed the tribe. “Identità Affamate”, Hungry Identities, is an attempt to draw attention to the concept of fragmented identities like that which the fork (pitchfork/trident) represents, to think about the restlessness associated with the continuous deprivation that Western society has imposed on us, depriving us of goals and dreams, or rather, making goals and dreams that could make us enjoy normality, unreachable. A parody of the wellbeing of the few and the uneasiness of many, of the difference between what hunger represents in a metropolis today, and gourmandise intended as the satisfaction of the sense of taste for the very few.
